Paintings

I want to thank my friend Marilyn Perry, who allowed me to use her paintings to illuminate my website.

I fell in love with her paintings for their beauty and their evanescent dance between nature and light. And I was intrigued by how this accomplished Renaissance art historian, former president of the Samuel H. Kress Foundation and chairman of World Monuments Fund engages with paint and light in a way that is so “wildly and dangerously free” (to quote poet John O’Donoghue). The paintings seem to emerge into being from the pure energy of the artist’s craft in the conduct of chance.

With deep gratitude, below are the paintings you’ve but glimpsed, in their full glory! You can see more of her work at marilynperryart.com.
